Located at 6km from Annecy Lake, on the foothills of the Sarve where the Eau-Morte flows, Giez is a verdant village as close to the lake's shores as to its county town Faverges.
The castle, before a "fortified house", build on the fief of Gye around 1430. It is listed in the inventory of the historical monuments since 1979. Its role was to provide a place for the yields and sometimes shelter the people when there was a danger.
The golf course "Giez-Lac d'Annecy" (9 and 18 holes, plus a golf practice area) is very popular for its course and its many wonderlands of the Doussard's plain, Annecy Lake and the mountains Les Dents de Lanfon.
